Police Report For August 25, 2022 – On Wednesday afternoon, officers responded to the 300 block of McAnally Court to take a sex crime report. Young people receive messages asking for inappropriate images via social media. Known information about the suspect is received, a report is made.

Sedalia police were dispatched to the 900 block of South Quincy Avenue Wednesday night for a report of a disturbance. Officers spoke with the subject and one subject confirmed a failure to appear warrant out of Pettis County. Ronald Anthony Watson Jr., 32, of Sedalia, was arrested on an FTA warrant on the original charge of nonsupport. Watson was taken to the Pettis County Jail pending a $500 cash-only bond. Watson also had marijuana, which was confiscated for destruction. No drug charges have been filed.

Officers were dispatched Wednesday afternoon to the 600 block of East 17th Street in reference to a domestic disturbance. Officers arrived and contacted the victim who reported being assaulted by her daughter. The suspect was informed that he was under arrest, and he resisted police officers at the scene. Dorothy Sierra Canada, 22, of Sedalia was arrested for 4th degree domestic assault and resisting arrest. Canada was taken to the Pettis County Jail, bail to be determined.

On Wednesday morning, officers were dispatched to American Auto Rental, 2101 South Boundary Avenue, to take a theft report. When officers arrived, they spoke with Terry L. Arnold. Arnold reported that last month, someone stole a dealer’s license plate from one of his cars. This plaque has an estimated value of $55.00. There are no suspects at this time.

On Saturday afternoon, officers were dispatched to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a report of shoplifting. The officer met with the asset protection officer in their office. A young man tries to steal a hoodie and a pair of shoes from a store. The juvenile was released to a family member and the juvenile referral was completed.

Sedalia Police assisted the Missouri State Highway Patrol with an investigation Wednesday morning in the 400 block of East 11th Street. A report is made to document the incident. There was no further information in the report.

Wednesday morning, officers responded to the Sedalia Wastewater Laboratory, 3000 West Main Street, in reference to property damage. Officers spoke with an employee who said he arrived to work to find a broken window in the building. A $5 bill and a cobalt socket were stolen from the facility. No suspects have been identified at this time.

Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Carr Avenue in reference to property damage Sunday morning. Robert D. Gardner reported observing a subject break into a residential yard, damaging a fence. Total damage is estimated at approximately $232.39 USD. The suspect has not been identified at this time.

Sunday morning, officers responded to the 2800 block of West 11th Street in reference to Internet fraud. Officers spoke with Danny Notwer, who said he had been contacted by someone claiming to be from Publishers Clearinghouse. The suspect took $500 from Nothwehr’s Wal Mart card to claim his winnings. The suspect is currently unknown.

On Wednesday morning, officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of South Osage Avenue in Wassalam for a theft report. Daniel Allen Pritchard told officers that $13,475 worth of items were stolen from the apartment. The robbery is believed to have happened in the afternoon between Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

Late on the night of August 21, Sedalia Police responded to Wendy’s Restaurant, 1301 South Bounds Avenue, for a report of a disturbance involving a weapon. Upon investigation, it was found that some type of traffic incident had occurred in the parking lot and the firearm was displayed for self-defense. Neither side wants to pursue a crime. They were advised to make better decisions and were released. An information report was prepared to document the incident.

Last Wednesday evening, officers made a traffic stop for a vehicle whose registration had expired near West Main Street and South Boundary Avenue. A check through Dispatch revealed the passenger had an active Higginsville Police warrant for possession of marijuana, and the bond was only $200. Nicole Dawn Hamline, 29, of Sedalia, was arrested on a warrant and taken to the Pettis County Jail for booking.
