Daily positivity increased from 16.28% to 19.65% while weekly positivity was recorded at 14.41%. The cumulative doses administered in the country so far as part of the national vaccination drive have exceeded Rs 157.20 million, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Sunday congratulated the country for crossing 157 million vaccinations against COVID-19 in just one year and said India has set an example in the world in fighting the coronavirus infection.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Punjab rose to 6,70,460 on Monday as 6,656 people tested positive for the virus, while the death toll rose to 16,790 with 20 more deaths, a health bulletin said.
Of the latest deaths, four were reported from Patiala, three from Bathida, two each from Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Moga, Mohali and one from Pathankot, the statement said.
There are 43,429 active cases of COVID-19 in Punjab and the positivity rate is 20.89 percent. A total of 698 patients are on oxygen support while 41 critical patients are on ventilators, the report added.

Assam on Monday reported 6,982 new cases of COVID-19, the highest one-day increase since the pandemic began, taking the total to 6,53,717, the National Health Mission (NHM) said in a bulletin.

The new infections came from 64,919 samples tested during the day, a positivity rate of 10.75 percent, Health Minister Keshab Mahanta said. This is the largest one-day increase in new infections since May 20, 2021.

The number of daily Covid-19 cases in West Bengal fell below 10,000 on Monday after 12 days when 9,385 new infections were reported, according to the health department. The number of new cases on Monday was 5,553 fewer than Sunday as the number rose to 19,07,084. A total of 33 new deaths, compared to 36 the previous day, brought the death toll to 20,121, according to the Ministry of Health. – said in the bulletin.
The number of samples tested for Covid-19 on January 17, 16 and 15 were 35,515, 53,876 and 64,572 respectively.
The total number of samples tested so far in the state is 233,62,613, the bulletin said. The positivity rate has now improved to 26.43 percent from 27.73 percent on Sunday.

Maharashtra reported 31,111 new cases of coronavirus today, down from 10,216 the day before, and 24 new deaths related to the infection, the state health department said.
With these additions, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 72,42,921 and the death toll to 1,41,832, it said.
The number of recoveries in Maharashtra rose to 68,29,992 after 29,092 patients were discharged during the day, leaving the state with 2,67,334 active cases, the department said.

Rajasthan’s vaccination rate against COVID-19 in all categories is higher than the national average, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said.
“The rate of vaccination against COVID in all categories in the country is higher than the national average. So far, 94 percent of people over the age of 18 have received their first dose of the vaccine. The rate of taking preventive measures against the dose of COVID-19 is also much higher than the national average,” he said.

Tamil Nadu has immunized all school students between the ages of 15 and 18 with the first dose, Health Minister Ma Subramanian said today.
“In Tamil Nadu, 100 percent of school children between the ages of 15 and 18 have been vaccinated with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine,” said Ma Subramanian.
